It appears we have lost the plot.
Western democracy, or more appropriately - the system that has allowed our current level of prosperity, security, and opportunity – was built upon ideas defended by people who were willing to risk their lives for them, as the alternative was so desperately appalling that their sacrifice was justified.
Despite the failings of this system, from which many current culture wars have sprung: the foundation upon which it is built remains as solid as any in modern history.
The concepts of freedom, personal responsibility, and choice have previously provided the necessary basis for democratic process; one which we use to guide us towards the best options given evidence available.
Covid-19 has erased any rationality and objectivity in a system where those were previously assumed as essential in any decision making.
How did this virus become more important than LITERALLY anything else?

Where did the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion crowd disappear to?
It seems like all opinions and choices are valid unless they go against your beliefs.
It appears we have lost the plot, and the script is now being written by those who have broken free from the constraints of accountability, logic, and defensible policy.
We have abandoned the charts that previously led us out of tyranny and suffering, and now willingly rely on the opportunistic winds of fear to guide us in these troubling times – a strategy most certainly destined to fail.
